Bitcoin reaches over $1000

So bitcoins have spiked again. This is slightly to do with Mt.Gox having a 0% fee for black friday weekend this year (2013).

I know I said I gave up on them, but with the prices hitting well over £500 GBP each, it does get tempting.

Unfortunately, my rig just cant get into the game anymore, even at 700MH/s most pools don't even give me out any work. So therefore i'm stuck mining Litecoins, or various other AltCoins which can be traded on Cryptsy.com.

On an upside, I stumbled across an amoun...

Youtube 500 Server Error

So, for all of half an hour between 22:00-23:00 GMT YouTube had a lovely 500 Server Error, with a 4150(ish) character hash on every page refresh. Streaming servers still worked, so all of those watching longer videos may not have noticed anything.

Everyone else saw this:
youtube 500 server error
The text reads:
Sorry, something went wrong.

A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation.

If you see them, show them this information:...some long hash

No longer dealing in bitcoins (BTC)

http://bitmit.net is being sold / transferred by its original company

Inputs.IO had 4100 coins compromised

Mining BTC is HARD

Mining Altcoins is no longer profitable for me (power costs etc)

These are just some of the reasons I am stopping the use of BTC. I may occasionally get involved, but out of interest and as a learning experience, rather than for profit.
I cashed in a few coins myself, for a reasonable profit, and that's fine by me. It was fun learning at the same time.

Thanks to the big ASIC...

freebtc.ganey.co.uk end of life, finished, gone.

I cannot afford to keep the faucet open any longer. The freebtc.ganey.co.uk myFaucet was costing from my own source of bitcoins, and not funding itself any where near the amount it needed too.

Good luck to anyone still hosting faucet scripts, i personally cannot see how they are profitable, unless you host a site such as land of bitcoin (which links to faucets, and takes a cut)

Goodbye old site, Hello FlatUI.

So, my old site design was really starting to bug me. Like loads....

So I thought i'd finally get around to redesigning the site, allocated myself 1 day for it, and got on with it.

Here we are.
The new design. I obviously eventually got bored, and added the various jquery irritating bits, some people like it, some people hate it. I'm neither. Although i'll probably end up removing it somewhere along the line.

I'm still not 100% happy with the site, im not sure what else should go in the big semi-cir...

Centova Cast v3 database Upgrade error on install

If you are receiving database errors trying to install centovacast v3, try the following command and follow the instructions:
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/uninstall

I was trying this on a new server, and got annoyed after several attempts and just having the installation aborting. I then ran the removal script, and ran the install again. Yay! it started working.
